I remember a preference or somethin' awhile back which allowed an .aiff file to chime @ the top of each hour. I have it activated, but now want to turn it off and can't find it anywhere. In the Date & Time Pref Panel, there's an option for one of the Speakable Voices to announce the chime, but my 10.3.4 install announces each hour with a "ding." How do I make her knock it off?

Try this:

1. Open System Preferences/Date & Time
2. Select the "Clock" pane
3. Near the bottom of the window, deselect: "Announce the time"

That oughta do it. Or, is that what you tried to do and it did not work?

The latter. I tried using the Clock pane of the Date & Time Preference Panel, but under "Announce the time" is only a selection of voices. There's no way to select sound (.aiff) files... So I have no idea where the hourly "ping" is coming from.

(Waited 'til top of the hour to post to make sure... "Announce the time" is not selected, but the sound was still heard).

Well son of a bitch... It was iPulse's clock preference!

Thanks for your help anyway.

Sure glad you figured that out. I never would have.
