A friend of mine got a brand new router with his new Mac, and asked me which ports he should open up for regular use....is there some kind of a list of ports, that Macs use for communication? Which ports are neccesary to be open?
Thanks,
t

A lot of presets are available in the built-in firewall. Just go to add a new port and choose from the popup menu in the resulting dialog.

You can open the ones you actually use. Most users don't need to open any ports at all, since the router firewall only affects incoming connections, not outgoing.
