Long story short: All of the folders in my home directory are owned by "daemon," and they need to be owned by me. Is there a way to change all folders? I tried clicking the "apply to enclosed items" button, but that didn't do anything to the folders enclosed within. Could this be done with an applescript or something?

Open Terminal and type:

cd /Users

sudo chown -R yourshortname yourhomefoldername

Press enter and type your password when asked.

- My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.

You can use the excellent BatChMod which is a free GUI to look after the Unix bits-and-bobs. Works great.
