I have a PowerMac G5 and sometimes I connect the second DVI slot to my TV (using a TV dongle from Apple).
Today I wanted to watch the Keynote on my TV. I plugged in the tv dongle and everything was fine. It was in dual display mode. Quicktime is a little annoying that it only goes into fullscreen on the main monitor (my LCD). While I was playing the quicktime movie (the WWDC Keynote) in a window on the TV I opened the Preferences and checked "Mirror mode" for the display.
Long story short, everything froze. After I while I hard rebooted and since then whenever I plug the TV dongle in, it tries to switch to mirror mode and then everything hangs.
I looked on macnn, google and a few other places, but found nothing. I looked at all files that had changed today, read system.log windowsystem.log but nothing. I removed all cached files, removed all preferences files I thought where related, nothing.
I have turned on / off the mirror mode many times before but no problem. I am guessing that doing so while playing QT movie on the other display may have had something to do with this but who knows.
Anybody know what I can try next?
Btw. I am running Panther with all updates.
