Hi all

I use a Powerbook (12") attached to a Formac Gallery display. The Formac has always looked less-than-great, since it isn't at it's optimum resolution. I didn't think there was much I could do about this - a problem of running two LCD display with different native resolutions.

However, I saw a post on here some time ago in which someone had a work-around for this. I can't find this post. Does anyone know how, in System Preferences, I can adjust the external monitor's resolution indepedantly of that of the Powerbook?

Many thanks

In every version of OS X I've used, when I bring up the Displays control panel, a window appears on each screen, allowing me to choose it's resolution. Does this not happen for you? Also, the Displays menu extra used to show available resolutions for any attached displays and allow you to change them. In Panther, they changed the menu extra to just show you recently used settings (a stupid decision that made the menu almost useless IMHO).

You're running in video mirroring mode when what you want is dual display mode. You should be able to toggle the modes by pressing F7.
