I have a Crucial 64MB compact flash card that I use with a Dazzle card reader (still never received my Dazzle rebate, scoundrels!) to back-up small files like pieces of writing or a small website that I'm building with Freeway.

The card appears in Finder as "untitled". For the life of me, I can't figure out how to give it a title. Have read through all my OSX books, but nothing, and I've clicked and double clicked on everything I can think of.

It's must be simple, but how do I do it?

Thanks!

Normally, you just click the name, wait a second, and it'll change to the text field so you can rename it. If it doesn't change, it might be locked or something. Try going to /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and seeing if you can rename it from there.

Utilities/Disk Utillity.app

You will have to format the disk to rename it.

If you want it to be able to go into computers running other OSes then you will have to keep it formatted as MS-DOS.

There is a slightly confusing bit about disks - you have to format the right disc from the list on the left in Dusk Util - one will be the Volume and one will be the Disc.

I don't see an option for formatting or reformatting. Does it have something to do with "Erase"?

A single click in the name should do it.

Else, try clicking on the drive and then Get Info (File menu or Apple-i) and changing it via the "Name & Suffix" field.

Tried it, neither worked. With the "Name & Extension" field it won't let me alter the name, guess I'll have to erase and start over......

I have the same issue with my digital camera card.
