slow boot up time

I just bought a 667 Powerbook off my friend.
I went to install 10.3 on it, and everything worked fine. I did a Clear Install so all the information was deleted. When I go to bootup - it takes FOREVER to start. We're taking a good 30 minutes.
It just sits at the white screen with the apple logo. The circle is spinning - but nothing seems to be happening.
I tried going into verbose mode, and everything seemed to load correctly - just slow.
Any ideas?

So it does boot up properly after a 30-minute wait each time? Odd.
Is the proper "Startup Disk" selected in System Preferences?
You may want to try re-installing the OS again from scratch if this continues...

Yes, everytime it boots up - 30 minutes. I tried reinstalling 10.3, same thing.
Is there a free version of Disk Warrior? Thanks.

How much memory is on the PowerBook? If it has a minimum configuration, that could be part of your problem.

I can boot into OSX now, but it just takes SOO long to respond.

My iMac took a couple of minutes to boot up until the firm ware on the airport card was updated now it zips along in about 20 seconds from off to desktop.
