Has anyone seen this before? I cannot mount my boot disk. I booted off another drive and tried to mount the original over firewire and got the following error. When I run Disk Utility, it says the disk is fine.
Jul 11 23:40:03 localhost kernel: jnl: open: journal magic is bad (0x4a4a4c78 != 0x4a4e4c78)
Jul 11 23:40:03 localhost kernel: hfs: late jnl init: failed to open/create the journal (retval 0).
Jul 11 23:40:02 localhost diskarbitrationd[105]: unable to mount /dev/disk2s10 (status code 0x00000001).

Try disabling and then re-enabling journaling.

I tried that, but it doesn't give me the option. I bought Diskwarrior, so we'll see what happens with that...

I would run DiskWarrior before messing with the journaling anyway.

The only way I could get the volume to mount was to boot into OS 9, since OS 9 has no idea about journaling. I then copied the volume to an external firewire drive for backup and erased the original disk. All my data has been recovered. Thanks for your help, everyone.

For future reference, you can specify the device name to disable journaling. The volume does not have to be mounted. e.g.:
diskutil disableJournal /dev/disk0s5

Yes, I actually did a man diskutil to get that, but the problem is that the drive would hang the system completely if it was attached. The only way I could get the system up was to boot into OS 9.
