any way to get the hard drive icon to stay where i want it to stay on the desktop?
i keep putting in the bottom left-hand corner.
how can i get it to stay there? (when restarting, or switching to the battery/ac on my powerbook)
any ideas?

doesn't the hd icon go to the top right corner by default? on startup, etc...

Yep, as far as I know it does.
Have you tried flipping the monitor over for this effect?

meanwhile, thought i could write an applescript to move it on startup, but...
script editor keeps freezing! (spinning beach ball...)

Put it exactly where you want it. Then never log out or shut down (don't laugh, that's how I operate my Powerbook).

doesnt it revert when u switch from battery to ac?
i haven't shutdown yet, but have restarted (when a software install required it)
still, would like to assign a spot for the hd where it would stay...

The computer doesn't change at all when you switch from battery to AC. Just plug and unplug at will.
If you really need it in a particular spot, you can try this. It sounds like it will do what you want.
