Under Category Other I have an icon that says Hardware and shows the picture of the G4 processor.

If i click it, it gives me options and info about me processor. I can even change the L2 Cache amount from none to 512 KB.

I've never seen this before so does anyone have a similiar icon or know where it came from? I did install the CHUD tools, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this. Also does changing the options increase decrease performance?

And how do i uninstall this??

Thanks!

CHUD is exactly where that Icon came from. If you want to remove it, look in /Library/PreferencePanes and you should see Hardware.prefPane in there. Delete that file or move it somewhere else, to remove the icon from your Preferences. You may have to either log off / log on, or reboot, after moving the file.

I can't remember exactly what it does, but it is part of the CHUD package and I am sure is useful for testing software under different processor conditions.

Yes, you never want to disable chip cache of any kind unless you're doing very low-level hardware programming.

You should have left it at 512KB. Please don't mess with things you don't understand. Anyway, I'm not sure if that'll have a permanent effect since the CHUD kexts will have been removed, but you might want to double-check.
