A few days ago, I posted about some CPU hangs that I suspected came from a
screensaver.

My solution was to remove the screen savers and reinstall the "System" folder.

Anyway, to make a long story short - I've installed my fonts - heck, all of my
screensavers and such in my System folder in their appropriate folders.

NOT in my "Users" folder set.

Was this a bad thing to do? I guess I'm still a System 7-9 person at heart...

This means they are now available to all users on your system - which can be a good or a bad thing depending on your circumstances.

Generally you shouldn't put things in /System/Library but rather /Library.

/System is reserved for the exclusive use of Apple Computer, Inc. Don't touch it.

(The one exception is kernel extensions, which have to be in /System/Library/Extensions. This is the only exception.)

In that case, you *may* have run into a permissions-related issue.

Move all those savers and non-kernel extensions (i.e. don't touch the Extensions folder) back over into /Library, and then have Disk Utility repair permissions.
