Files are busy, trying to copy a chunk of files

In OSX 10.3 I am ttrying to copy a huge amount of files from one hard drive to another But I keep getting
the item box files 2 contains one or more busy items that can not be changed

How can I fix this ? The computers are off line so no one is shareing from them , but I have gigs of files so it is not an option to try and find the busy one.
Please help.
