i just trying to find some help or assistance for a friend. he's planning on using his pc and mac on an microsoft exchange network at his office. kvm switch.

basically what are your recommendations for setup?

Set-up of what exactly? Can you be a little more descriptive of what you are after/looking for...

Based off what you said, my simple answer would be:

PC = Outlook for Exchange
Mac = Entourage:2004 for Exchange

sorry i wasn't given all the info to pass on here. its been solved. we tried to get osx to log into his exchange server.. the problem is that the his office is running exchange 5.5. i wasn't able to configure his osx machine correctly with office x.

he was planning on using the kvm switch to control both the osx and xp machine from the same keyboard and mouse.

I couldn't get erage to work with my company exchange server, but mail.app and address book.app work perfectly.

Unless you need to use Exchange's collaborative features...shared calendaring, public folders that work, etc. Then you will need the Outlook2001 client that only runs in classic.
