I have folder, in which it's important that the comments are to the right of the file name. i moved the comments there, but they seem to revert back to far right after items I could care less about like date modified etc. thanks!

I'll take a stab at this.
Try running disk utility to repair the drive the folder is on.
Then run disk utility to repair permissions.
Finally, try trashing the Finder preferences.
(I think the problem is that in list view in the Finder, with show Comments checked in View options, after dragging the Comments column to the immediate right of the file name the Comments column reverts back to it's default location to the far right.)

let me try again:
You have Name, then date modified, then date created, size, kind, version, and then comments.
Now what if you want the comments to be after name.
So you move comments, you drag it after name.
Is it supposed to stay there permanently?
I find that it is not sticking. Please let me know.

Try trashing your Finder preference file located in your username home/library/preferences. The file is com.apple.finder.plist
As msuper69 said, repairing permissions using disk utility (in your utilities folder) might also help.

It is not normal. Try doing what I suggested, in the order I listed.
