When you use the 'center' function in selecting your wallpaper OSX places the image in the center and lets you assign a secondary color for the space around it. Is there any way to have it do the same thing but place the image to the extreme left or right of the screen instead?

Thanks.

interesting, i don't know of any way to have the desktop prefs do exactly what you want - can i assume it's because you want a picture, then a "clean" colored space for your desktop icons and/or dock?

a simple workaround may be to open your pic in an editor like photoshop or graphic converter, add in the area you want with the color you want and then save it as a "full size" pic for your desktop. granted, not easy to move around and a pain if you like to change it all the time...but an idea for you anyway.

I don't have any icons on my desktop; I maneuver around the OS exclusively via dock, finder, and Launchbar. It's more of an aesthetic decision, really. You'd have to see the pic to understand.

I thought of your suggested workaround but that would require hunting down an art major and clubbing him over the head with my powerbook until he suffers a coma so I can steal his copy of Photoshop, which isn't something I really want to do. Might dent the powerbook, you know.

Are there any other solutions or third party apps I could utilize?

As Mr. Blur said in his post, you can use graphic converter. You can download it here.
