Yesterday afternoon I got the brilliant idea to reformat and partition my ibook hard drive as per the instructions in Robin William's OS X guidebook. After I had backed up all my data, I inserted the Install Disc #1 and I was asked to restart my computer. I did, at approximately 7pm yesterday evening, and when I got up at 7am this morning the start up screen was still running. This may be a stupid question, but is this normal? What can I do about this? I obviously can't open the disk drive or turn the power off... Help! I don't know what to do.

Have you tried re-installing? Re-partioning? Not partioning?

It is not normal and at this point you will need to turn off the power and start over.

It only takes a couple of minutes to start-up on the install CD.
