Whenever i double click a PDF, it opens in Adobe Acrobat. I want them to default to Preview.

How do i do this?
The reason is because Acrobat refuses to print for some crazy reason.

Click on any PDF file in the Finder. Go to File > Get Info.

Where it says 'Open with', select 'Preview'. Click the 'Change All' button to make all PDF files open in preview by default. Close Info window. Done.

That is a way to do this, but I think he was asking if there is a way to make it the default when you open it, it opens in Preview and not Acrobat. He also wants to make any new pdfs automatically open in Preview and not acrobat.

Your way works, but if he has tons of PDF files all over his computer, that would be a lot of work

PurpleGiant's instructions will mark all files with .pdf extension to open in Preview which is exactly what the OP wanted.

The "Change All' button when clicked, in his instructions will ensure all files will open in Preview.

The icon will not change until you log out then back in again (or otherwise refresh the Finder's cache of icons). However, double clicking on it should still open it in Preview, not Acrobat, even though it's still got the old icon.

Even though they probably should, the files probably won't be updated to use Preview until a log out or other refresh of some sort that I still don't completely understand. Everything else you had said up to there was fine though.

Tip: if you only want a single file to open with certain app, right click on the file (control click) .."Open with" menu, then hold the option Key, choose the app, it will now always open that file with the app you choose. FYI Preview renders photoshop files very well and its much quicker to launch if you just want a peek.

Just curious do you have an Epson ..?

I have read of some problems of them with Adobe Reader

If you want to try and solve that problem you could try these.

Make sure you have the latest driver from the website.
If you don't ... trash your old one,
HD/Library/Printers... don't forget to empty trash ... and download the new one.

Then ...

Deleting and Re-adding Printer

1) Disconnect printer, power off.
2) Run "Disk Utility" from "Applications -> Utilities", repair permissions (precautionary measure).
3) Run "Printer Setup Utility" from "Applications -> Utilities"
4) Highlight the printer and remove it
5) Quit "Printer Setup Utility". Restart Mac.
6) Connect USB and power up the printer. Wait a little.
7)_Open "Printer Setup Utility" again, highlight the printer you wish to print from
8) Select this printer as "default" by clicking on the corresponding icon on top of this window.
9) Try again to print from Reader ...
