I have Panther Installed, I just want to know how to center a picture in the desktop background, I remember back in OS 9 when you can set the background picture in different ways (tile, center, fill window etc..) how can I do that in Panther OS?

i thought this sounded familiar...have a look at this thread from a couple months ago and see if it describes what you are looking for

When you select a picture in the Desktop pref pane, it will show a pop-up menu, just to the right of the preview.

When no picture was previously selected, or say a solid color, no menu appears to make this selection. Select the picture, it will appear.

Does it work this way for you? If not, try another account on the Mac and see if it behaves the same way.
