Every time I restart (rarely) there is an "untitled" mounted disk that appears on my desktop. Anyone know why? it doesn't have anything in it and i haven't even launched anything for it to create anything . . . i have 10.3.5 but it's been happening since 10.3.4 or so though.

Sounds like one of those USB media sticks or a digital camera media card is connected.

Try using Disk Utility to investigate further.
