I'm finishing a promo CD for a client.
For the Mac OS X CD, I made a background image, like most comemrcial CD's for OS X.

However I need the image to be hidden. So I added the " . " to the begining of the image's filename: .background.jpg
however I cannot asign it as a backgroung image because Mac OS X cannot see it. (because it's invisible).
I thought I need to edit a DS_Store file to change the path and specify by hand .background.jpg as the bkg. image.

does anyone know an app. to edit DS_Store files ?

Or a way to specify an invisible pic as the bkg. image ?

One cannot edit a .DS_Store file.

Put the background image into a folder, select it as the background image, and then rename the folder to start with a dot.

To make a file invisible (hidden), use the "setFile" command that is included with the (free) developer tools.

for memory, the syntax is:

setFile -a V /Volumes/newCD/bkgd.jpg

but do a "man setFile" to be sure.

And set the file as the background before making it invisible.
