I have a mac that I use to monitor the network stats. I usually just sits there displaying info.

However co-workers "borrow" the mac to check their email, or surf the web, etc. and leave everything messed up.

Is there an option or an app that I could use to lock the keyboard and mouse so that no one can use the computer without a password, but still display the data and not a screen saver?

thanks,
Gern

running 10.3.4 btw

Do you have access to the Apple Remote Desktop admin application? If so, there is a wide variety of options you could use to monitor that machine while keeping everybody locked out of it...

Is this something that constantly has to be viewed/watched I take it?

Why not just unplug the mouse?

I guess he would want to know if there was a heavy load or watch log files for constant bombardment of passwords etc.

I would simply unplug the keyboard and mouse.

It depends upon how you view your stats. If it's via Safari, I would try one of those applications that makes safari take up the full screen.

We use intermapper (www.intermapper.com) to monitor the network.

I think my co-workers are smart enough to plug the keyboard back in. I was really hoping for something real.
