Hello

I have a new firewire enclosure ( On sale, Fry's for 39 $$ ) with a new 250 GB HD ( also on sale, $99).

Ive noticed I can copy multiple files at the same time, each with a new time bar ( or what ever you call it)

I have several large iMovie files from home movies etc.

If I copy multiple files at once, do they become fragmented in the copying process? just wondering.

if so, can I defragment them later? Ive read OS X does this automacially from time to time.

thganks

No it doesn't fragment them. I always thought that in general when copying a file, the OS checks what the file size is, reserves that space, and then writes the data allocated for it on the hard drive (please correct me if I am wrong).

What does cause fragmentation is when you are increasing or decreasing the data amount in a file.
