I've had problems with Dreamweaver MX 2004, which I can't seem to resolve, even after uninstalling and reinstalling. I've also got the Spoken Interface Preview installed, which can't be uninstalled, and Apple recommend not using software update with it (I know - silly to install it on my main machine, and certainly a mistake I won't make again!). So I decided to do an Archive & Install. I had a quick read of this article here:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120

And followed the steps it suggests. When I get to here:

The Select a Destination window appears.

Click Options. The installation options sheet appears.

Select Archive and Install
It doesn't work. I can't select options, and my only volume has an exclamation mark in a red symbol on it. When I click on the destination it tells me that I can't do an install, as a newer version of Panther is already installed. Any suggestions on how I can get an archive & install to work? Am I missing something? The volume is 74.52GB with 6.92GB free. Do I just need to free up more space first?

Out of curiosity, what is the issue with Dreamweaver MX 2004 that you can't resolve?

There's a certain style of menu that doesn't work properly for me. When the splash screen comes up at startup, if I click on the "don't show again" check box, the "are you sure" dialogue won't respond. The first thing I click on will highlight as if clicked whenever I hover my mouse over it, but it won't respond. The problem is that the Manage Sites and set up screen for adding new sites is in the same style, so none of the buttons on those screens work. It's Dreamweaver version 7.0.1. When I did the uninstall (deleted the app folder, and then searched for dreamweaver in finder, and deleted everything that came up), I tried it both before and after updating to 7.0.1, and the problem was still there.

I'm having a look at CSSEdit as a possible alternative, but even if I do wind up using that, I'd like to do an archive & install to get rid of the spoken interface preview.
