So from what I gathered, all you have to do to backup your mail server data, is to back up the directory /Library/AppleMailServer/ I use IMAP mail servers only, so I have about 3000 emails in there. Recently I had to format and reinstall my server (bad ram + os x update = trashed volume). Now I had a fresh backup of my AMS folder handy. So I swapped it in, thinking I was golden. But when i fired up my mail client, i was expecting to see hundreds of emails pouring in to my account, but none did. Am I missing something. As far as I can tell, this is all I need to do. Maybe its a permissions problem? I don't know what the permissions are supposed to be. Is there something else I'm missing?

After doing a litle reading, it seems wierd because it looks like mail is stored in /var/spool/imap. Yet my Server somehow kept its mail in /Library/AppleMailServer. Even when I tell Server Admin app that my mail store is /Library/AppleMailServer, it still doesn't work, because i get errors, because IMAP is looking for /Library/AppleMailServer/users/[username]. I don't really understand whats going on this this.
