Perhaps my update to 10.3.5 is related and maybe some of you have had a similar issue...

Normally closing the lid of my iBook makes the 'puter go sleepytime, and opening the lid makes it wakey-wakey. (OK, I have little kids, but they don't play on my machine). Now, the only way to get it to sleep is to manually do it under the Apple menu, and waking means I have to hit a key a few times. It seems connected to the installation of 10.3.5, but I do not want to assume. Have any of you had similar issues with sleep and wake after installing the SW Update? If so, is there a fix?
I used to think I had wavy hair until I shaved my head and found my hair was straight and my head was wavy.

There is a function called lidwake, it allows you to determine whether or not your Mac will wake when the lid is opened. Could there have been a change here ? If I remember correctly you can type 'man pmset' in terminal to access the power managment settings. It is either 'sudo pmset lidwake 1' or 0 instead of 1. Maybe if nothing has been changed you can just reactivate the lidwake function ...

There is a thread here that discussed this some time ago. I'll post a link if I find it ...

When you close the lid, do you give it some time to go to sleep ? There are some peripherals that can keep it from going to sleep, anything connected ?

edit : Found it, here you go

I don't know if my "problem" is related to what you are experiencing, but here goes.

Its not a huge deal, just odd. I can put my PB to sleep by closing the lid just fine. Last night, it was on my coffee table, lid closed, sleeping, and charging. Then I heard the hard drive spin up, CD-eject sound, and the sleep light turned off. So I just waited for a few seconds. About 15 seconds later, it went back to sleep. Strange.

I use "problem" in quotes b/c its not a big deal, it went back to sleep. But had it not, and it was in a bag or not plugged in, it would have drained some of the battery (not that much tho, since it is set to sleep after some time).

I have a bluetooth keyboard which can wake it, but it was across the room w/ no keys being hit. I don't believe I have the setting for allowing the network to wake the computer, and I have Airport anyway, so I think I also remember reading that the setting has no effect in this case.

Oh well, just a little mystery for me,

I appreciate the responses. I am wondering if the sleep issue is related to a glitch in the 10.3.5 SW ....
