Just noticed this one... not sure if this was an update issue, or some bug.

1. Open up IE and copy and paste some graphic into Excel. You can even drag and drop an image like this.

2. Try the same on Safari. First off, if you try the drag and drop method, you only get the link. Second, if you copy and paste, it isn't in the origional format.

Save the Safari copy and paste document. Try sending it to a PC user without quicktime installed. they get a funny graphic saying that they need quicktime to view the graphic.

What type of graphic is being made by safari when I copy and paste into Excel?

Is there a work around to this?

This normally only happens when you try and open a Tiff that is saved using Macintosh encoding, I've never seen it happen for Jpegs etc. Safari (in my experience) saves a copy of what is on the website, it doesn't reformat it. Have the tried the above using IE and not gotten the same result?

For some reason though, this is happening. The image is a jpeg thumbnail. Upon copy and paste from safari to excel 2004, it gets converted to a tiff? I tried using explorer to do the same opperation and it didn't do the same.... Guess I still need to keep exploder around for mundane tasks like this? Or can you think of a reason for the conversion happening transparently between the two programs?
