I put in CD 1 of OS X 10.3 in my fiancee's emac restarted to have it re-formated--Before I tried to install 10.3 on it, it says "you cannot install Mac OS X on this volume. A newer verison of Mac OS X is installed."
The Option Button appeared vagued- I can't click on it.
I wanted to erase everything and re-install 10.3 ? How can I???
"Unfortunately, no one can be told what Mac OS X is... you must see it for yourself."
FWIW, you could have gone to the Installer menu and opened Disk Utility to reformat and erase the disk beforehand if you had wanted to. But regardless of that, you should still have been able to do an archive and install.
