Just wondering if there are any shell script archives out there just as there are Applescript archives out there with scripts you can download and use.

I don't think I've ever heard of one but that sounds like a novel idea... I don't recall ever seeing one.

Maybe one of the existing Applescript archives should expand their compliment with a Shell archive.

You might try http://www.macosxhints.com/. They usually have a lot of shell stuff (in addition to lots of other goodies).
