I'm a bit lost here, so any good advice would be much appreciated.

I have this USB2 hard drive connected to my powerbook, but it won't mount. Using Disk Utility and system profiler, I can see the unit is connected, but nothing happens. Do I need special drivers for a thing like this? And which?

-I'm running 10.3.5

-The drive is probably FAT32 formatted, but i don't know for sure (there's files on the drive I need to transfer). FAT or NTFS, both should be supported by OSX, right?

-Drive chipset is from Prolific Technology Inc.

I've seen this before with my USB drive and my 12inch PB. I don't know if this is the same problem but mine sometimes won't mount when connected. I just do a restart of the computer with the drive still connected and it usually apears. Hope this helps.

Was going to start a new thread but my problem along the same lines.... Ive got a Muvo MP3 Player and since the 10.3.5 update whenever i insert it it says somethings along the lines of "Drive contains no volumes OS X can read" and corrupts the drive. It worked perfectly before the update... any ideas?

The advice above didn't help.Nothing after rebooting, nothing using the mentioned script, nothing through force-mounting with disk util. I also tried wearing a Mount Me! T-shirt to a club last weekend but with mixed succes. Seemed some gender confusion occured...

I now know for a fact the drive is NTFS-formatted, so sinec i need to write to it, I'd might as well give up. ..sad...
