does anyone here agree if apple can incorporate some kind of restriction on certain albums? like maybe a pw feature or something?

It sounds like a cool idea and they should be able to easily do it. Actually, I'm surprised it's not there already.

that's the first good idea for those albums i've heard.
but then they'd have to actually not appear in your library, otherwise it would just be silly... and that might be a little more effort.
it's a really useful idea though, because i like it when people look through my library, but it's weird to have no control over what they can look at...
in a way iphoto needs as much control as email.

It's ludicrous. If you don't want anyone to see certain pictures, don't post them in a album.

It's all well and good saying don't post them in an album but as has already been mentioned ALL photos appear in the main library....
IMO the Library should be pwd protected and we should have the ability to pwd protect individual albums as we see fit....

It's an interesting idea, but how would it be implemented? And what about just going through the photo library and searching through photos that way?
If you're worried about someone seeing something, create a user for that person when they use the Mac and keep the photos in your library.
You can also setpasswords when the computer is woken from sleep and/or to resume from the screensaver.
If you really have photos you don't want seen, do put them in iPhoto. Create an encrypted disk and store the photos in there, or burn an encrypted disc with them.

Does iPhoto use one library for all users or on a per user basis. I thought it stored its information in home/pictures folder. If it does then why need a password. I just won't let someone know my password if I care who shouldn't see the pix.

You can do this already. Download an iPhoto library manager and keep your secret library on an encrypted disk image.

Idea has been suggested before. It was subject of a major article by Alex Rieneck in Australian MacWorld a couple of months ago.
