How do i set it to automatically log me into specific websites. like .. when i load website "a", how do i set it to auto type in the login and password for me? I've tried to add it in .. but when i load the page, both fields remain blank. any clue or a link to something that explains it's use? I figured MacNN would be able to help me out on this =P

You should explain which web browser you're using, as each one does things differently (and some may not use the Keychain at all).

Some bank websites specify an attribute in the login form that asks all web browsers to NOT save password & login info for that page. It's a security measure that you can't turn off, but it's for your own good.

That's not a standard thing, though; does Safari support it?

I thought it was a standard. You especially find it on bank websites. If you view the page source you should be able to find:

AUTOCOMPLETE="OFF"

This will stop the browser from autofilling. I do beleive that some browsers will ignore this request.

My credit card site never does autofill, even though I have it set up to do so. Neither does my online bill paying page. Yes, it's a pain to have to look up the info every time, but the extrra security is worth it.

And that reminds me, time to pay the mortgage!

Banks block browsers that don't support it.

Well I do know that older versions of Safari used to remember my bank's password just fine. Safari 1.2 stopped doing this - I asked the bank why and they said that it was never meant to remember my password, so the older version must have ignored this request - thus the newer version seems to support it.

I wish I could turn it back on though!

Your wish is granted. Here’s a program, called Autocomplete Always On!, which will patch WebCore (Safari’s HTML engine) to ignore the flag.

Enjoy!
