I've posted this before elsewhere. It's driving me nuts. Have not got an answer to it.

From other apps, like iview, Photoshop, when I need to navigate to a folder, I see folder where names are cut off like Folder...1.

THERE ARE NO GRABBERS BETWEEN THE COLUMNS TO OPEN UP THE COLUMNS WIDER.
TOOL TIPS DOES NOT WORK

The window is extended out all way, again nothing is there to make columns wider, AND TOOLS TIPS DOES NOT WORK

Any one else notice this? thanks.

Care to provide a screenshot of the window? (presumably you're talking about the open/save windows?)

Tooltips should display if you leave the mouse pointer over the title for a few seconds (without moving it) - holding the option key while you did this used to make them appear instantly, but I just tried it and it didn't work for me so that may not be true anymore. The important thing is to not move the pointer at all while you hover. Once the first one pops up, then moving the pointer to the next name with the ... should lead to the tooltip displaying instantly.

The reason why your seeing this lack of functionality in the Open/Save dialogues in these apps is because they are Carbon ports of what were originally classic MacOS apps. They don't support all the features on offer from OS X - whose fault that is I don't know... most likely Apple's for not getting their act together in 4 major revisions of OS X to ensure that Carbon apps aren't the bastard stepchildren of the system.

Ok , some relief, the tooltips comes up if you wait awhile.
But here is the deal:
Anything opened up in Macs finder, the option trick works and also I see to little vertical things in the first column, which you can stretch out.

BUT: ALMOST ALL things I open up from another APP, those two little vertical things that stretch out the columns is not there AND the options trick does not work WHY??????????

AND why the heck have the delay in the first place????? thanks!!!!!!!!

(can you post a sceen shot here? how?)

This is a function of the application calling a newer API. Do an open file in Safari, you will see them, go to iTunes and do an Import, they are not there. BBEdit, a popular editing tool does not, etc. etc.

My carbon app that I am developing does not support the function you are referring too.
