Hi, i have posted before about ways in which I could install garageband on a computer (,my ibook) which currently has no DVD drive. I have tried to put the DVD into my Windows Xp cd whihc had got a dvd drive, in the hope that i could open it all, and copy the files to a hard drive (which I would need to borrow), and then drop them onto the mac.

However, the PC says that it cannot read the data from the DVD. Does anybody now of any solutions that would enable me to install the DVD onto my ibook?

I would guess that the PC can't read the drive as it is probably in HFS+ format rather than UDF/ISO9660.

What you tried would probably work if you used another Mac with a FireWire HD. I say probably because it is possible that Apple has some form of copy protection on the DVD. If this is the case then you would be better off just getting an external DVD drive to install it.
