Hi,
I don't want to start another discussion about .Mac in general. I consider signing up for the mail service only, because I don't need the rest.
Has .Mac email been reliable in the past? I'd be glad to hear your experiences.
Thanks,
Daniel

last I checked, you cannot sign up for only email. It's a package; all or nothing.
.mac email in the past has been up and down in terms of reliability. last couple of months I haven't had any problems.
I've been using .mac since it came out, but have no use for it. I plan to let it expire in october.

My experience has been positive. I use all the features, and had only one email problem, I been using when it was free, and now. Honestly, if you don't take advantage of the features, then perhaps it is not money well spent.

http://www.mac.com/1/currencytable.html says ".Mac email only" for $10 per year.

read further. it says that .Mac email only for $10 is contingent upon owning a full subscription to .Mac. what this means is that you can get more email accounts associated with your full subscription by paying an extra $10 per email account.
You still have to shell out the big buck to get there though.

yeah, read further like the guy said. I have the full .mac and another email for the $10, but you have to have the full service to get anything at all.

No, you cannot sign up for only the email.
I have the full .Mac and have not had any availability problems so far.

You can have someone who is on the full service get you a $10 email address. I use .Mac as my main address, and from my experience it is pretty reliable.

I run my own email server. If it has a problem, it's my fault. I just don't see point paying $100 for something I can provide all myself.
I'd be happy to host other people's emails for free if they would just ask.

Well that's good for you,
but I find the .mac account to be convenient and has benefits.
I've been using it since the iTools, so everyone has my email address,
they provide some nice software and network storage.
I know if I buy them seperatly I can get all of the benefits of .mac for less but not in a nicely packaged and managed place.
Bottom line for me, it has been a good deal and I re-up every year.
Mike

It should be someone you trust very much as they'd have complete access to your account as well as control over it.
99% of the time, .Mac mail works great. Only had one problem with, ever. And of any e-mail accounts, I have, or had, it's had the least amount of spam by a considerable margin.
