Hi All,

I've made a backup of my system disk into a disk image, and now I want to burn it to DVD so that I can use it for emergencies.

Last time I tried to burn a bootable disk (in Toast 6.0.3), I couldn't boot from it, so I'm sure I burned in the wrong way.

From what I can see, I can burn the disk image in two different ways:

1) mount it and burn the "mac volume"
2) drop the disk image into Toast and burn a volume from that

Before I waste some discs, does anybody know which method will give me a bootable disc?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Chas

You can't boot from it no matter how you make it. OS X creates the VM swap files on the boot drive and it can't do that when booting from DVD so it fails. To make a bootable DVD you would need to modify the OS at a very low level. BootCD is a program that would help with this in the past, but I haven't used it lately. Look on versiontracker.
