I know you can boot up with an external firewire drive. But can you do it with a usb2 ext. drive? I just bought a case for 18 bucks for my extra 30g 2.5 HD and am wanting to install
panther on it and boot up...possible???

I think it was able to boot from USB 1.1, although I have no idea why anyone would want to do that. Therefore, it should boot from USB 2 as well. The only way to know for sure, though, would be to try it.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I just didn't want to go to the trouble if its known not to work. Thanx for replying. I'll give it a try.

Any Mac with AGP graphics can boot from USB, provided the drive is formatted correctly.
