I use an HP Deskjet printer that won't remember custom settings. Every time I go to print, it reverts back to factory settings (Normal quality, color prints). Each time, I have to reconfigure its options through the print screen (i.e., print grayscale only on draft quality). It's really quite frustrating. I'm a print/graphic designer and I like to use this machine as a test proof, so I usually need to print several versions to get the look I need.

Is there any way to change the custom settings? I'm not sure if I've provided enough info, but please let me know if I have not.

I think OS X's Print sheet is just designed to return to its "Standard" configuration. You can, however, create a new configuration and then save it using the Presets menu and selecting Save As. It seems that even after you save the custom setting, the Print sheet will go back to "Standard," but at least now you'll be able to select your new configuration from the Presets menu.
