HOw does one go about compiling Pine for OS X Server 10.3.5? Do I need to Downlaod it first?

Of course you need to download it. The instructions will be included with the source code. If you can't figure it out from the included directions, you may want to check out fink.

Is there any particular reason why you need to compile it? Following the instructions given in the tarball worked just fine last time I tried it; otherwise, it's probably easier to download the compiled Mac OS X binaries directly from the source.
