opening dmg.(#).bin on OSX 10.3

hello I have panther and a powerbook. I recently got some files and they are packed like filename.dmg.1.bin, filename.dmg.2.bin, and so on. how do I open these ? I try stuff it but it just seems to make a copy of the files and OSX doesn't know what to do with them ? Please help.

IMO the easiest way of doing this is using hdiutil on the first part at the CLI.

Just open all the files with StuffIt Expander. It will unbin the files, and you'll have a bunch of .dmg files. Then, just double-click on the first one of these, and it should mount.
Yes, we could use hdiutil, but it's generally non-ideal to point newbies to the Terminal.

I followed your instructions. It left me with a bunch of files with no icons. I clicked the first. And it opened anotehr window and it said it was unmountable.

That's odd. What program are these .dmg files for? Are these files part of a shareware program? It might help if I were able to download them and take a look to see why this would be happening.

dmg.bin files? The only people I know who actually run .dmg images through MacBinary are Apple's developers, and they only do it for XCode. I never quite figured out why, myself; I didn't think you had to do that for .dmg files.
In any case, the instructions CharlesS gave you are correct, so I'm not sure what's going on here. Could you direct us to where you found these files, so that we might take a look at them? You said they were from a Usenet server; which server and newsgroup?
