Before you get too excited, the article does state that AT&T will probably stick with Windoze for the time being. But just the fact that it commisioned a team to investigate the possibility of switching to Mac OS X or Linux shows how much respect OS X is garnering in the business world.

I would support that move. It's a nice OS.

MS will offer them a hell of a discount just to keep them in their pocket. Sure they will take a cut.. but hey, it's MS they can afford anticompetitivepricing loss.

MS will probably do this, but they CAN'T give them a discount on total cost of ownership. This part of the equation has to be huge, I would imagine, and must be what is motivating the investigation in the first place.

In other words, Microsoft could GIVE them the OS, but it still may be more expensive in the long run.

They also can't beat OS X on security, which is probably the biggest factor in considering the change.
