Hello all - I'm running 10.3.5 on a pismo powerbook. As of yesterday, a "line" has appeared, running parallel a millimeter or two below the finder menu on the top of the screen. I don't recall when exactly it appeared but it was yesterday. No updates were made or anything like that. I have tried restarting, shutting down, and turning on, and it doesn't work. It even appears on the "blue" background as the OS is booting up. Any one know how to remove it? Functionalitywise, it doesn't cause any issues, but it's just annoying.
thanks

You need to have the hardware repaired.

I forgot to mention, it's not damage to the screen itself. seems to be some sort of glitch. i tried using the grab utility to post, but in the image generated, it doesn't capture the line.

If it doesn't capture the line, then chances are it is a hardware glitch. Your LCD is probably faulty. Try booting from an OS 9 CD and see if the problem is there. That will rule out software.

I booted into OS 9 and the line was still there. You put the mouse pointer over it and it highlights it, then it fades back.....weird.
Now today, the line is gone. Not sure what this is about...

Sadly the most likely cause of this is that the ribbon cable that links your lcd to the motherboard is starting to fray... so you might have to have this replaced. It shouldn't be an expensive part, but it is likely to cost something for labor as they have to take both halves apart to fix it.
