Hi,
I've just noticed that Apple's seemed to have taken out how you want to display your desktop pictures. For instance you used to be able to choose to tile the picture, or scale it, or center it, but now there's nothing. Apple still includes tileable backgrounds, however they just scale up to full size... The weirdest part, is my school's lab just got 2 new g5s, and one scales everything up, and the other tiles everything. We're very confused. Does anyone have any advice for how to make them do what you want?

Maybe there's a plist preference that can be set somewhere?

Thanks!

Try this:

1. Choose another picture (like one in your pictures folder), the stretch/tile/etc options will probably show up again.

2. Set it as you want it (stretch/tile/etc).

3. Choose the first picture again, and it will retain that setting.

That pop-up menu only appears when you move to a folder outside of the standard Apple provided folder of default desktop, I believe. One you've selected a pic that's not the right resolution for your monitor, you should get the options. I say should, because I've had it go missing for days at a time, only to appear again later.

Those options will show up if you manually drag an image from any folder in the finder to the image well in the Desktop & Screen Saver pref pane. Those options never showed up for me if I select an image directly from the pref pane. I don't know if Apple intended for it to work this way, or if it is some kind of bug or oversight. Either way, send Apple some feedback.
