what is the function of the small triangle button in the upper right corner of a sticky?

I think it tells you the window is expanded or viewable. If you double click on the header the content should disappear. You will also notice that the triangle becomes a box. Click on this box and the stickie becomes viewable again (or you can double click the header as well).

Just guessing.....

Hmm, interesting. Usually that widget performs a window-shade collapse on the sticky, like the classic Mac OS had. But now I just tried it and it does not work at all consistently. Apple's getting rid of traditional stickies and turning the program into an Expose gadget in Tiger (10.4).
