I have a Pismo running OS X 10.3. I recently replaced the HD with a CCC'ed copy of an earlier edition of the HD, which worked fine.
However, when I try to import a CD into iTunes, it runs into a privilege access problem telling me that I do not have sufficient access privileges (I can import this same CD on another Mac running OS X, so the CD is not copy protected).
I've run disk utility to repair privileges, does not fix the problem.
I've searched and do not see this problem posted before.
Is there another way I can correct this access problem?
[apologies if I'm in the wrong place, this issue did not seem to fit any other listed forums].

Try using Alsoft's DiskWarrior® 3.
You can also cross-post your question on the Apple Discussions forums.

hmm.. did you try going into iTunes preferences and checking to see where iTunes is looking for your music library? Maybe its preference got fouled up during the copy. If it is looking in the right place, then you should check the permissions on the "iTunes Music" folder (located in your music folder) to make sure you have read/write access.

Thanks for the tip. I did run Diskwarrior, did not fix the problem.
Looked at the privileges, and my iTunes library (and another file) have been set with owner privileges: system and shows a closed lock.
Anyone know how I restore privileges?

OK that might be your problem.. click that lock (you will be prompted to enter your password) and change the owner to: (your username) with read/write access.. also make sure the files within that folder have the same privelages.
note that you may need to log out and back in for the new privileges to take effect.
