I am running the latest OSX Panther on my powerbook 15". I read about the OSX virus today (which turned out to be not a virus afterall?) and thought maybe I should try using the built-in firewire which I have never bothered turning on. Anyway I opened up System Preference\Sharing. As I clicked on the firewall tab, a dialogue popped up saying "Other firewall software is running on your computer. To change the Apple firewall settings, turn off the other firewall software". The only problem is I don't think I can remember ever installing a firewall... I looked at the list of process I have running and cannot spot anything unusual. Then again, I have no idea what I should be looking for. Can it be some other software that I have installed that makes the system thinking a firewall has been installed when it's not? Is the system misbehaving because of something serious (like it's infected by a real virus?!). Any idea what I can do to troubleshoot this? Your help would b emost appreciated!
