When I try to open a chat via iChat, I get the message:
iChat Internal Error
NSInvalidArgumentException:
NSConcreteMutableAttributedString addAttribute:
Value:range:: nil value

And it says "quit" or "continue" and If I continue, it acts like nothing happened... until I try to open a chat with another person... Then rinse and repeat.

I've deleted everything with the name 'ichat' and copied a version from a friends machine and it still does this. Obviously, it's using some system resource that's corrupted... any ideas?

All as artificial as the Matrix itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as Love.

Have you tried to use iChat on another OS X account, if you have one? If you log in to another account and try it and it still doesn't work, then it is a system wide problem and not account related [not your iChat account but OS X].

Oops.. forgot to mention that... No, it only does this in my account... not sure why... not sure where else to look in my account either.

Then it is not a system wide problem, but a preference or corrupted file in your OS X user account.

As you said you already deleted everything iChat related, so I would assume that included all of the com.apple.ichatxxx.plist files too.

A google search produced several links when searching for the NSConcreteMutableAttributedString check out this one http://www.quicktopic.com/22/H/7SMmxwKaFdLv

heh... all it ended up being was that I had deactivated Helvetica (system) because I use parts of another Font Folio at work. Activated the system Helvetica and bam... it worked! Thanks a ton!
