Hi all, long time since I posted, simple question though:
I've been very annoyed by the Home & End keys not functioning like I was used to in Windows. When editing any sort of text it was wonderfully useful to move to the front or end of a line with these. Any way to enable this in OS X?
Thanks,
xSwift

Except of course in MS Office, and Macromedia Products. Unless this has been fixed, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Most apps (cocoa) also let you do ctrl-e for end and ctrl-a for home (Unix style)

On a Mac, home and end are supposed to take you to the top and bottom of the entire document respectively. Some apps like Office break the rules, but that's how it's supposed to work.
Command and left/right arrow is the intended way to get to the beginning and end of a line.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

While Command-left and Command-right work, I find Control-A and Control-E to be far nicer since unlike both the Command-arrows and Home/End, it doesn't require you to move your hands from the home row of the keyboard.
Unfortunately, at the moment Ctrl-A and Ctrl-E only work in Cocoa apps, although Word can be tweaked to allow them. I don't know why Apple doesn't add this functionality to the Carbon text widget, but at the moment, this is a feature that makes Cocoa apps significantly nicer to use than Carbon apps IMO.

yeah man, I've been switched for about a year now and I'm still pressing home-end every once in a while. You'll get used to cmd + arrows, but sometimes cmd + arrows moves between tabs in certain programs, so its kind of weird. You have to use shift and such. Considering the fact that you're on a WAY better operating system than before, I think this is just a small price to pay
Good Luck in your mac life,
