When Starded to Download the NEW QUICK TIME and ITUNES, after 8 minutes aprox. a POP UP SAYS:
The Update "Itunes and Quick Time" could not be verified and expanded correctly.
Make sure you have permission to write to / private / temp/501/TemporaryItems/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate, then try again.

I REBOOT whit the ORIGINAL APPLE MAC OS 10.3.5 dvd and repared the permision of my entire HD, and the same problem ! PLEASE HELP.

I try to Download the packaging only but now I have anothert POP UP: I dont have the permision to write in PACKAGES make sure..... bla bla....

That doesn't fix it. I had it once with a Java update. Just download the installers manually and install manually and all is well. Why did you boot from the DVD ?

When booted from the DVD you can't update..

I think he means he booted from the DVD in order to repair permissions. Just so you know, original poster, that isn't necessary. You can repair permissions just fine with Disk Utility while booted from your OS X installation.

Read what I said an do it. I never had the problem again after that, just with this one update.

Did you install and then remove the Xcode Tools, by any chance?
