After updating to 10.3.6 thru software update my system now boots to a console login. Apparently the login server can't start.
While some people don't seem to be having a problem I would probably wait a few days to see if apple pulls the update to fix the problem. As it is now i have command line access to my system only and not sure how to fix it.

Blah I don't think i have that option I'm on a Powerbook G3 400 think archive and install is only on the newer system restore Discs.
I've filed a bug with apple and will wait to see what they say.
I have complete access to the system so if necessary i could manually install or fix something given the proper file and instructions.

Mainly wanted to warn people before they install the update since I'm sure there will be others and I'm at least much more knowledgable than the average user and just annoyed by this problem.

If you have an OS 10.3 install disk, it'll have the archive and install option, once you boot from it. The first splash screen should have an "options..." button to the left, which will give you the upgrade, clean install or archive & install choices.
