Here's the entire history. A month ago purchased a new AlBook (60g HD) to replace my TiBook (40g HD). Previously I was backing up the TiBook to an External FW (20g HD). When I got my new AlBook I had it automatically copy all of my things from the TiBook using the FW cable. ALL HD's currently have 10.3.5.

This morning I took my Ti out of service and put the Ti's 40g drive into the External FW enclosure (so, what was previously my source disk is now suppose to be my BackUp Disk). Using Dantz Retrospect Express, I tried to perform my first backup (duplication) from my new AlBook to the 40g external drive. In the middle of the duplication process I got an error. I tried to redo it, no dice. Upon trying to eject the 40g Backup disk I got a KP.

Restarted Al and everything is cool with it, however, my 40g external is no longer showing up at all! I tried to restart from the external 40g in target mode (cmd+T), but my Al just booted up off it's own drive.

I don't know if I got the error b/c I was trying to turn an old source disk into a backup disk or not. It seems to me like that is irrelevant, but I have never gotten an error during a backup before so I thought I'd include the whole history.

So, can someone tell me what to do so I can see the external drive? Obviously, I don't care about the contents of the external drive, b/c I intend on completely replacing it with the Al. Thanks, T.

you mean you erased the external?
(even if it corrected your problem, I advise you to check what caused that error, maybe retrospect has some issue with your system or something...)

yep. wiped it clean. I really don't know what caused the error. I re-ran retrospect after erasing the drive, and it appears to have worked fine except for one error it reported in copying a single AW document. I suspect that it didn't like the name I gave it ("? & ? ebtreport.awk"). Other than that, everything else seems to be ok.

edit: apparently Safari doesn't like the pi and delta symbols in the file name either
